Opportunity is, more often than not, a very self-facing word. We get excited about the potential, we are intrigued by the possibilities and most importantly we become engulfed in the specific results that await us at the other end of an opportunity. When a friend, a co-worker or anyone says to us “wow, I have a fantastic opportunity for you” often our reaction is to turn inward and begin to inquire about the personal gains we may receive from it.
The mission of Residential Living Options (RLO) is to assist people with disabilities and their families in the pursuit of self-determined housing by providing creative options, education and community collaborations. Throughout the southeastern region of Pennsylvania, there are hundreds of people with disabilities interested in living as independently as possible. There are, however, limited funding and resources to support them in realizing their dreams. RLO is committed to doing something about it!
WOW – do we have a fantastic opportunity for you. At first glance and especially after reading the two paragraphs above, we are quite sure that your reaction will reside within the context of… “This opportunity is obviously for someone else (a person with disability) and this is just another request asking me for a donation. Don’t these people understand that the economy is bad and I need to watch my money?”
Well you caught us.
The opportunity is absolutely for someone with a disability who does not have the necessary funding to make a dramatic improvement in their lifestyle. PARTLY.

- To walk through your door at home tonight and confidently lift your head in pride not only because of what you’ve achieved but also for what you helped someone else achieve as well
- To cook dinner tonight in your home with a smile knowing that you also assisted in the dinner ritual for another
