Local bike advocate, recently retired professional ballet dancer, and friend of the site Mark Troxler (left in photo above) is a familiar face in Fort Worth’s burgeoning bike scene. Now that he’s retired from his dance career, he’s decided to take some time to go out on his own and ride his bike across the United States.
For the past sixteen years I’ve been a ballet dancer and for eleven of those years it’s been at a professional level. After all that time making a living on the stage and sweating in the studio I’ve decided to retire from the profession while my knees and ankles still work (sort of). I figure what better way to celebrate the end of my ballet career (and the start of whatever might be next) than to ride my bike across the country.
Mark’s jetted off to Oregon, where he stayed briefly in Portland before heading to Astoria out on the Pacific coast and beginning his ride on his Kona bicycle. You can follow along with his adventure on his trip blog, Lewis and Clark and Mark.
Here’s wishing Mark a safe and amazing journey – cheer him on, fellow Fort Worthians.
